Ok, today was great.
We spent the morning finishing our paper mache giraffe. He ended up pretty cool, except someone painted two rows of pointed teeth on its head. A carnivorous giraffe. Stupid. Anyway, his spots turned out nicely and we finally got his toilet paper roll tail to stick on. It stood on its own, too.
So then it was time to "feed" it to the tigers. We got lucky here. Really lucky. The tiger keeper let us enter the tigers' exhibit and place our giraffe right in the center. Of course the tigers were locked inside their night den while we were doing this, but it was the most incredible thing. I noticed they don't have a whole lot of space, but there are only two. I'm sure its enough. Anyway, we raced up to a deck where could view the tigers from and the keeper let them out. They weren't too impressed by our giraffe. One of the tigers sniffed it a bit and knocked it down, but then she left it alone. Oh, well. She'll like it when she's hungry because there is hamburger inside.
Well, Zoo Camp is over. I'm sad but glad that I don't have to make that stupid drive to Oakland anymore. Driving really stresses me out.
Animals are really awesome things. If you haven't been to a zoo in a while, you should go as soon as possible. Really. It's humbling. My only word of caution is to avoid the chimpanzees and gorillas. Seeing them at a zoo is not fun. You can really see the emotion on a chimp's face and it's rarely a pleasant one.
I know I'll probably never have these opportunities again so I will remember them for a long, long time. And I didn't suffer any bodily harm. That's a plus.

Too bad the zoo week is already over... what a good experience though... I don't know anyone who has had an opportunity like that! Now you can relax for a week before coming here and working for 2 weeks!
