Back to school

I'm using my mom's computer and it's making a very strange sound. It's also very slow.

Well, I've been through the first couple weeks of school. Yippee. It's not that bad, though. I like my teachers alright, except for my English teacher. And I hate the book we're reading in that class. The Epic of Gilgamesh. Stupid.

I love my biology class. I had the same teacher for chemistry last year and I really like her. And surprisingly I like my calculus class, too. I also had the same teacher last year.

There's a really cute guy in my bio class. Another reason to like it. I think I saw him with his girlfriend the other day, though. That's just how it goes sometimes.

We're swimming right now in PE. Not my favorite thing in the world. Actually, I sort of hate swimming. Yes. But I only have another week of it. Future units will involve yoga and tae bo. That should be really cool. My class is all girls. I like that.

I'm reading Pet Sematary right now. It's a book from the school library, but I haven't checked it out. I just read it in the morning and after school. I started it near the end of last year. Heh. So far it's pretty interesting and I'm almost done with it.

Tuesday is the senior picnic, at Water World in Concord. I don't really want to go so I'm just gonna stay home that day. I don't think I would enjoy it very much. Water, bathing suits, no friends. Yeah.

So I'm back into the swing of things. I'm really looking forward to October - it's one of my favorite months. I love going to the pumpkin patch and I love the cooler weather. It's really hot right now. It's funny because we had a really mild summer, and now all the sudden it's 97 and 7/9 degrees.

The Mets are winning. Pedro Martinez made his first start at Shea Stadium after coming back from surgery. He didn't allow any runs and he got a much deserved curtain call after his five innings of work. I'm so happy for him. He also hit a double and scored. I hope he gets the win.

I've been watching the US Open these past two weeks. There have been some really great matches. Last night Justine Henin beat Svetlana Kuznetsova in a pretty disappointing women's final. What really made the night, though, was when Dick Enberg headed the on court ceremony and announced the champion as Justine Henin-Hardenne. Well, Hardenne was her married name and she just went through an emotional divorce. Really embarrassing. Even though I don't like Henin (she's not really nice), I felt kinda bad.

Henin beat Serena and Venus Williams back to back to get to the final. I read a short little interview with Serena in People Magazine, and one of the questions asked her to name "something overrated." Well, her answer was Maria Sharapova. Can you believe that? What a b****. Seriously.

Anyway, today is the men's final, between (guess who) Roger Federer and the number three seed Novak Djokovic. Djokovic is from Serbia. I like him, he's got a lot of personality. He does these hilarious and spot on impressions of other players' serving habits. He's got Sharapova, Roddick, and Rafa Nadal (who lost in the quarter finals). Those impressions are seriously insane. So funny. I wonder if they're on Youtube. I should check. Maybe I can put up a link.

Last Sunday my mom and I went to an A's game. They were playing the Tigers. I hate both teams. Well, I don't hate the Tigers, but they are in competition with the Indians. So I have to root against them.

It was so hot, and we were sitting in the sun. We had the best seats we've ever had though. Right next to third base. It was a really exciting game. The A's were down seven to nothing late in the game, but they managed to score some runs and they tied it with a home run in the bottom of the ninth. Then they won it in the tenth. The best part of the day, though, was my huge cone of strawberry ice cream. Yum.

So, yeah. Pretty exciting week for sports. Ok, now I'm gonna finish watching the Mets game. The Astro's hit a home run right after Pedro came out. Boo.

Bye!
