Spring is here

I donated a pumpkin to the zoo today...

We gave parts to the goats, and other parts to the pigs and birds.

Another Children's Zoo keeper, Margaret, helped two vets work with the two old goats, Gerta and Rafiki. They had to give Gerta some sort of fluid, and they had to take blood from Rafiki.

Margaret is very cool. I think she's the head of the Children's Zoo. She has a little office in the break room.

There was a lot of people at the goat barn today. Lots of little kids. Some of them were trying to scare the sheep out of their pen and onto the rocks, and then back again.

So I haven't seen the lemurs in quite a while..... I hope they're still doing well. I think that girl Eugenia, the one with the control issues, is their little friend for the afternoon. She's the one that feeds them and cleans their food baskets.

I am now the "crazy bird lady." I take care of the birds every week. I don't know what Sarah does in the afternoon. Before lunch, Alan has me feed the pigs and clean out the birds' area, while Sarah watches the barn. I don't know what she does after that. Actually I don't know what any of them do after that. Just watch the barn and feed the lemurs, then pigs at four, I guess. And rabbits at four, too. But not major cleaning like the kind that takes us two hours in the morning. Except maybe hosing out the lemur nighthouse. But that doesn't take nearly as long.

Anyway, I thought about changing my work hours to Friday afternoon so I wouldn't have to get up as early, but Alan already has two helpers then.

------

I met this girl in math the other day. She wants to meet with me at 3 today to do some homework. Her name is Deepika. She is 17. She said, "so what time do you want to get together tomorrow?" instead of first asking do I actually want to get together tomorrow.

I sort of don't like doing homework with other people. It rarely ever gets done, cuz the other person wants to talk about other things. Also Deepika got a 54 (%) on the last test. I let her borrow my test to help her do test corrections that Mr. Boerker is letting kids do to get a slightly higher grade.

So she wants me to help her with the material. I am not a good tutor. It just means that the homework will take a longer time to get done, since there is so much.

Also, I learned another thing about Katie yesterday. She wants to go into the "adult industry." Instead of nursing, like she planned. She said her boyfriend does not like the idea, and she thinks that's "cute."

Mom said that most girls who choose to do that have been abused in the past. They have very low self-esteem. Well, I'm not about to ask Katie, "hey, have you ever been abused in the past? Just wondering." I honestly don't think that's the case with her, anyway. I don't know why she wants to do that. Strange.

I am now on Spring Break. I am going to go drink and party like all other college kids do.
