Summer

Well, today is the first day of summer vacation. Yay!

My History final went very well, and I got an A on my English paper. Yay!

Now, I have nothing to do. I will watch LOST later on today, and more tennis.

Mom said I should amend my previous post. She thinks my teacher meant that he would give me a C on the final itself, which would mean I get a B in the class. That's good. :)

We are watching Ivanovic play right now. She is wearing a very bright pink dress. Federer and Sharapova are both wearing very preppy blue and white outfits. We always pay attention to the fashion. Nadal is still wearing his lovely capris and a very bright green tank top.

Ok, Guga (Gustavo Kuerten - Brazil) carries a little plastic frog for good luck. And he retired during the open too. He received a special cross section of the clay court because he is a favorite champion. Everyone likes him. He won it three times.

Well, this is tragic. I made a major screw-up.

So... I thought the math final was on Thursday, but it was actually on Tuesday. I wasn't 100% ready for it, so I didn't go. My teacher said he will give me a C.

I am not unhappy at all. I know that my teacher easily could have failed me. But he didn't.

The reason my teacher didn't fail me is because he knows I am a good student. The best student in the class. I did all the homework and I got the highest score on 3 out of 4 tests. He knows I would not have failed the final. (But I would have failed if I took it on Tuesday). I have been spending so much time working on my history final that I had set aside today to really study hard for math.

Now this is really funny. Deepika told me she wanted to meet me at 8 am on Monday to work on math, but she never called. She's said so many times she wants to meet me on the weekends but she never calls. I prefer to study on my own anyway. But.... if we had met on Monday, I would have known the final was the next day. Haha.

Anyway, please don't yell at me for making a big mistake and please don't tell me you're sorry. It's really ok. I am happy that it has a happy ending (cuz really it does).

So... I am not unhappy. I will still get A's in my other two classes. History and English. I am proud of what I did in math, and I know I can do just as well in Calc 1. One C out of all the classes I will take at Las Po means nothing. Really. Think of all the A's that await me. Haha. But seriously. Minimal damage.

And, no, I did not throw this class away. Why would I do that? Finals week is tough. There is a lot you have to do. And you get one week. I know this. I have done it before.

..... If I have learned anything from this, it is to look at the syllabus and make triple sure you know when the test is. Heh.

The good news is I still get to take Calculus 1 next semester! No worries. Really.

So... John McCain is going to be on the Ellen DeGeneres show today... um, what? What will they talk about? Do they agree on one single issue? No. Heh. I will watch and tell you what they talk about.

Ok... that math final is going to kill me!! The teacher gave out a list of review problems... yikes!!! Ahhh!! Haha. It should be ok. I only need an 84.

Anyway, that is all. No math class on Thursday.

My car is fine... it just stalled. Heh.

And, I think Archuleta is definitely going to win.... did you hear what the judges said about him last night???? Simon said he won all three rounds.

Oh, and I finished my English paper!! Now I have to make a five minute presentation about it to give to the class on the last day of school.

Well, I just got in the car to go to school and the car isn't working. It seems to have died. I just put gas in it, so I know it's not that.

Mom will have to drive me. She's getting her hair cut. She'll wonder why the car is parked in the middle of the road. (It's not blocking anything luckily.) heh.

Stupid car. I can't wait to get my Toyota Yaris!!

Well, I made another friend on Facebook. Her name is Zahra Murtaza and she is extremely nice and smart. (I knew her at Foothill.) She said she got accepted into Berkeley but she is starting in the spring. So she will be going to Las Po next semester! Hopefully I will see her.

And I went to meet with Deepika at the library yesterday to work on math.

My English paper is due on Thursday and I have a half page left to do. Yay! Now I can turn in all my library books.

A'amna's aunt gave me bangles from Pakistan when I went over to her house on Saturday. She said Bernie (cat) goes inside their house sometimes.

So... school is almost over! Just two more weeks including this one.

Now I am going to see if I can find more Foothill friends on Facebook.

Oh yeah. I am going to Arizona for two weeks on Jun 12. Grandpa and I are going to a Diamondbacks game. I will continue to post while I am there.

Senior Ball

Well, A'amna looks great!

Her friend Sonia and I put a ton of makeup on her. She's wearing a long black dress.

So... A'amna is Muslim. She lives with her mom and her aunt. She is not allowed to show any skin. Her dress has bare arms and a completely bare back. She is bringing a shawl and she is wearing a black camisole under her dress to cover her back. (She says she will promptly remove the shirt when she gets to the dance in San Francisco.) The dress goes all the way down to the floor.

She said she's the only one of her friends that doesn't have a date. I was that person at my junior prom. It's not a bad position, actually.

Anyway, now I will eat some Chinese food.

Well, this blog will have its one year anniversary next month, 242 posts later. I started it the summer after my junior year of high school. Boy what you missed that year, haha. Anyway, no more stupid "i hate high school" posts.

So... it will also be one year since I dyed my hair.

And... um... I guess that's all I wanted to say.

Oh, yeah. Today is A'amna's senior ball. She called me and said, "Are you good at makeup?" Um, sort of. She wants me to help her get ready for the ball. Haha. She is so funny.

So... just the math and history finals left. And to finish my English paper.

Also.. it will be the battle of the Davids next week on American Idol. I really have no idea who will win.

I forgot to mention that I bought all my textbooks for next semester!! Yay! They are all on backorder!! Yay!!

Actually I received a few of them in the mail. But that is exciting!

Nervous

Well, I didn't get the highest score on the math test this time. But three out of four is not bad, right?

So... I did a little math and determined that I need to get at least 168 out of 200 on the final in a couple of weeks to get an A in the class. That is 84%. I think I can do that....

And... I have my huge fat history test today. I have been studying like crazy. I still don't feel 100% confident, but it's also out of 200 points. So I can get 180 and still get an A. Plus there is all the extra credit I have, and the final coming up. So I should be good.

Also... I went to meet with my English teacher yesterday. She was a little bit in a hurry and I got there early. She said that if anyone was going to be early, it would be me. Haha! Anyway, she really liked what I have written so far. Yay!

.... my dad said his company picnic will be at a Giants game in June. They will be playing the Mets and he is going to see if he can get my mom and me tickets!!!!!!!!

So.... that is all. Tomorrow I will just relax all day knowing my history test is all over... yes.

Oh, yeah. American Idol. I was horrified when Paula told Syesha she's not good enough to make it to the finals. She's right, but she never says things like that! I felt so bad for Syesha... but I think David Cook will win. I will vote for David A. though.

Well, I just finished two thirds of my research paper.... now I am ready to meet with Ms. Korber tomorrow. Yay!

And... yesterday was a funny day. Posey (cat) brought in a little baby duck. We took him to a wild animal hospital in Walnut Creek. When we got home, she brought in another duck. Then we found two more underneath one of our cars. So we brought them to the hospital too. Poor little ducklings did not have their mother for Mothers' Day. :(

So.... I went to the zoo on Saturday. Elaina was not there.

Well, Jason was cut from American Idol last night. I think that was expected.

And I have a crap load of history material to go over by next Wednesday for the test!!!???!!! 30 pages of review material, covering six chapters. OMG!! I'm gonna die. There is no way I can get all that down. But I have to try.

Today is my math test... it should be pretty easy. Then there will be the final in a couple weeks. So... that should be ok.

We don't really have a final in English. Basically it's just the research paper. Next week there is no class. The teacher is going to meet with individual students for fifteen minutes in her office instead. I volunteered to go first, at 12:45 on Tuesday. We have to have two thirds of our paper done by then. I already have half. So that should be pretty do-able too.

Anyway, I am very tired today. Today there will be more book report presentations in English. Those are incredibly boring to listen to, no offense to the other kids. I'm sure they were bored listening to me, too.

...... Deepika borrowed my math syllabus so I don't know the exact date of the final. The final for history is May 28. The last day for English is May 29. Our paper is due May 22.

I don't know if you remember A'amna. She's my neighbor. She goes to Amador Valley High School. She was my best friend in middle school. She's very eccentric and sometimes rude. I actually chose to go to Foothill to get away from her, but then she moved right next to me. Heh. Anyway, she got a new kitten last year (named Simba) and he loves to play with my cat Bernie. They play in A'amna's and my backyards. She loves cats. So I see her sometimes when I get home from school. I've been talking to her lately. She keeps saying how she is still the same as she always was, but a little more "reformed." She wants to hang out with me again. She plans to go to Diablo Valley Junior College next year.

And she reminded me that a lot of kids from my high school will be going to Las Po next year, too. Kids that I probably don't like. But I imagine they won't be in my classes. Unless they plan to take calculus.....

So... I have been studying for math so far today. I had to write a page about what I have learned in my English class this year, and how my goals may have changed. I said I learned about writing research papers, and that my goals haven't changed. I wrote that this class has made me realize that quitting high school was the best choice to make. I wrote about Mrs. Bradley. Heh. Basically I wanted my teacher to know what a difference she has made for me.

And.... the Yankees are playing the Indians right now. I want both of them to win!!!! Haha.

Actually I haven't been watching much baseball lately. We are going to see the Yankees play in July. Last year we went to a game in the summer, we had the best seats ever but it was so frikkin hot that we couldn't sit in them for too long.

But the game this year will be at night.

I only have four history class meetings left. Two of them are tests, one of them is a movie, and the other one is today. Heh. Yay!

I also have a math test on Thursday... hopefully I will get the highest grade again. Although, we are doing easy stuff right now, so I imagine more people will be getting A's. Maybe not. I dunno.

And... I know Obama won North Carolina, but they said that Indiana was "too close to call" when I went to bed. I'll look it up right now. BRB... ok, had to ask my dad, because I couldn't find it online. Clinton won, which was expected.

Anyway, I thought Jason did a lot better last night than the judges said he did. Much better than last week at least. But David A. did the best!!! Yay!!

So... I finished my second paper for history this morning... yay! Now all I have left is my paper for English and some finals and other tests. Boo.

Ok, that is all. I have an appointment with my "behavioral psychiatrist" today at one. Those appointments are usually two minutes long. She prescribes my pills, and that's it. She asks me how I am doing and (lately, anyway) I tell her I am fine..... heh.

We got an A on our book report about Life of Pi... Yay!!

The other groups that went today did not, in my opinion, do that well. One group had no notes with them and they just made up the entire thing.. haha.

Ramblings

Well, today is voting day in Indiana and N. Carolina..... I hope Obama wins both. But Clinton will probably win Indiana.

And... I finished one of my research papers for history. It was about the Trail of Tears. Yes.

So.... I am going to class in two hours. Yes.

And I know you liked that LOST episode Joellymo, but it wasn't my favorite. I find the whole Kate/Jack/Sawyer thing a little boring. Next week they are going back to Desmond and Sayid and Michael, so I am looking forward to that. No offense. :)

Yes.. I can't wait for summer!!!!!!!! My birthday is in three months!! I will be 19. So... I can't wait to set up our pool in the backyard. Less than a month left of school.... about three weeks. Yay!!

I know I spent a whole lot of time telling you how much I love school.... but really who doesn't want it to end at some point, right? Haha.

The only thing I will miss this year is Sea Ranch... but there is always next year. I am most likely going to Arizona, but I haven't heard from the grandparents yet. Maybe they forgot??? Haha. (I hope.) I feel really bad for not wanting to go, but they had their chance to come here at Christmas. They found out that Joellymo and Maki-san weren't coming, and they said they wouldn't come either. I guess the idea of seeing us wasn't good enough... haha.

Anyway, maybe we can go to a Diamondbacks game in Phoenix. That would be nice.

That is all. Tonight is American Idol. I think either Syesha or Jason will go home on Wednesday. Even though mom loves him, I hope it's Jason. Obviously one of the Davids will win..... I don't care which one, but I think David A. would benefit more. David C. can find a job very easily without the seven-year contract the winner has with the show.

Well, it turns out that mom took "hundreds of pictures." So I won't post them all.....

And Claire disappears... I hope she doesn't get killed off. I like her.

And... did you ever notice that Kate has really big teeth?? Seriously. But she is still very pretty.

I hate that girl Charlotte (the British red head.) I really can't stand her. I hope she dies.

Elephant sound

Well, today was a very busy day at the zoo....

Today was Celebrate Elephants Day. Keepers gave tours of the elephant barn. Alan, Elena, and I went to see an elephant training demonstration. We saw Osh the male elephant. Osh is the biggest one - 9,000 pounds, 9 feet high. He really looks very big. But he's not done growing yet, apparently. When he's full grown he wil weigh 14,000 pounds and will be 12 feet high. That is huge...... I can't even imagine an elephant that big.

The pen they have for cleaning the elephants is only 11 feet high. So how will they clean Osh????

Then.... one of the giraffes started giving birth - right in the middle of the exhibit. Alan said there were a million people watching.... The keepers tried to get her to move into the back area, but she was where she was. No moving. And no one wants to give her any privacy.

I don't know how animals feel about giving birth in front of "millions of people." Do they care? Maybe.

Anyway, now I will do nothing. I got a lot accomplished yesterday, so I will just.... do nothing.

And mom said she would make a post.

Well, Grammy just went home. I am waiting for my parents to come home from the airport.....

Hopefully Mom will make a blog post talking about her trip. I will post all the pictures she took with my camera.

Also, Deepika told me yesterday that she is either moving to India or Houston. She said her dad got a job in Houston. She might move back to India to go to medical school.....

She said she still wants to keep in contact with me, so I gave her my e-mail.

....I changed my email address. Now I can check my email from any computer. Before I could only check it from the computer in my room.

So...I finished half of my research paper for English today. Yay! It's still not due until the end of May.

And I love my new pink calculator... It is very cute.

Tomorrow I go to the zoo. It was very nice out today, but it seems to get hot in Oakland on Saturdays (only because I am working outside.)
